| With nearly
1000 laptops in use by students and faculty, Keith Schaeper,
Moeller Information Systems, realized the daunting task of
protecting and managing each laptop without restricting the
intended functionality they provide for the Moeller environment.
"Since every teacher is required to incorporate the laptop
computer into their coursework, we were having to keep a lot
of spare laptops on hand so our students would not be without
one." Keith Explains. |

"We
have four system images that we use to deploy to our students
and faculty, one for each grade level. All of the required
applications for each group are incorporated into that image.
The problem was, we could not safely allow the students and
faculty to add any other applications once their laptop was
deployed. If the system became corrupt, we would have to rebuild
the system from scratch. That would typically take me half
a day for each laptop. Plus, I was the only one who knew exactly
how to rebuild a laptop with all of the required applications
and settings." |
